Turning Within: A Reflection from Sri Anandamayi Ma

"Your whole life you have spent in acquiring knowledge from mercenary motives (selfish or materialistic reasons) and in similar pursuits (other worldly activities). With all your strength you are serving worldly aims (focusing only on material success). Learn also to do a little service for the love of God (selfless acts dedicated to the Divine) so that your thought may dwell on His lotus feet (your mind stays absorbed in God and devotion)".

- Sri Anandamayi Ma

All your life, you have engaged in the pursuit of knowledge—not for its own sake, but entangled in motives of gain, ambition and worldly attainment. Even your highest efforts have served aims that are bound by time and change. You have lived outwardly, forgetting the inward path.

But the world you chase is fleeting. Its rewards are shadows dancing on the screen of mind. In truth, none of it belongs to you. None of it can stay.

Sri Anandamayi Ma invites you to turn within. Just as you have toiled for outer success, now offer a little effort toward the eternal. Perform one act—not for the self, but in the spirit of surrender. Let it be free of grasping, free of ego, done in love alone.

In this, the mind begins to rest. The senses soften. The heart, once scattered, finds stillness. And in that stillness, the remembrance of the Self arises.

His lotus feet are not elsewhere. They are the ground of your being. Let your thoughts rest there—not as worshipper and worshipped, but as That alone.
