“Tat Tvam Asi” — You Are That (Chandogya Upanishad)

One of the Mahavakyas — great declarations — of the Upanishads is:

“Tat Tvam Asi”
That Thou Art
(Chandogya Upanishad, 6.8.7)

These three words are enough to end the search, if understood deeply.

“Tat” — That: the infinite, unchanging reality, Brahman.
“Tvam” — You: not the body, not the mind, but the witnessing Self.
“Asi” — Are: not will be, not might be — you are That right now.

The guru in the Upanishad tells his student nine times: Tat Tvam Asi — as if knocking gently on the door of his heart.

We look outside for truth, for God, for peace. But Vedanta says: Look within. The One you seek is the One who seeks.

Pause today. Let these words sink in:
Tat Tvam Asi — I am That.

Let that become a living experience, not just a line.
