Empty the Mind, Realize the Self – Amritabindu Upanishad, Verse 3
"As the mind emptied of objects leads to liberation, one desirous of liberation must always try to wipe away objects from the plane of his mind."
— Amritabindu Upanishad, Verse 3
This ancient verse points directly to the path of inner freedom.
The mind, by its nature, clings to objects—thoughts, memories, desires, fears, and identities. These attachments form the veil that covers the Self. As long as the mind is caught up in the world of forms, liberation (moksha) remains out of reach.
But the teaching is clear:
Empty the mind.
Let go of the objects.
Withdraw attention from the distractions and dissolve them at their root.
This does not mean destroying the world or rejecting life—it means recognizing that the source of truth is not found in what comes and goes, but in what remains when all else is silent.
When the mind is free from the noise of objects, it becomes like a still lake—reflecting the infinite sky of pure awareness. This is the goal of all spiritual practice: to know the Self by removing all that is not-Self.
Freedom is not something to gain, but something to uncover.
Empty the mind—and the Self shines forth.
